Lalon Shah was born on 24 October 1774. He is also known as Lalon Fakir. His birthplace is Present in the Charmponthy village of Kushtia district of Bangladesh. He was born into a Hindu family. However, during his adolescence, he began to question religion and caste, and he started to walk on the path of spirituality and humanity, going beyond the conventional religious boundaries of society. He was married before embarking on the path of spirituality. Lalon Shah’s physical condition deteriorated. No treatment was effective for his body. Then he took lessons from one of his gurus, Chand Ali Fakir, and starte d spiritual practice under him. He started to spread spiritual knowledge through his philosophy and songs. Through his songs, he protested against various unnecessary differences, discriminations and superstitions in society. Lalon Fakir’s songs are still invaluable gems of Bengali literature. Fakir Lalon Shah died on 17 October 1890.
